Safety & Compliance

Climbing walls are height work with safety-critical equipment. Corporate event organisers and venue H&S teams need documentation they can verify. Here's exactly what we provide.

Insurance & Documentation

  • £5M Public Liability Insurance

Included on every hire as standard. Certificates provided on request.

  • Indemnity to Principal Cover

Our insurance extends to cover you, the hiring client, when our staff are supplied.

  • Risk Assessments & Method Statements

Emailed to your venue before the event — not handed over on the day.

  • Safety Certificates

Current and verifiable certificates for all equipment provided in advance.

Equipment Safety Standards

Our climbing walls and associated equipment meet or exceed UK safety regulations.

Legal compliance:

  • Full compliance with PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998)
  • Equipment manufactured to BS/EN14960 regulations
  • Compliant with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

Independent testing:

  • 29+ products PIPA registered with publicly verifiable tag numbers
  • 34+ products tested by RPII Certified Inspectors (Registered Play Inspectors International)
  • Annual inspections via an established testing company, members of BIHA and TIPE
  • Each item has a unique serial number and service history log

Climbing-specific safety:

  • Auto belay systems — some of the safest in the world
  • TRUBLUE auto belay with magnetic braking on the Enterprise wall (handles climbers 10–150 kg)
  • Hydraulic descent systems on scramble-net towers
  • Fully trained and supervised staff mandatory on all height equipment

Staff Training

Every climbing wall hire comes with trained supervising staff. They are not casual labourers — they are trained specifically on our equipment and on working at height.

  • Setup and breakdown procedures
  • Harness fitting and safety briefing delivery
  • Supervision of climbers at height
  • Emergency procedures
  • Equipment inspection before every hire

Venue Requirements

To set up safely, we need:

  • A flat, stable surface — grass or hard standing
  • Clear overhead space — the 26ft wall needs a venue with sufficient height if indoors
  • Access route at least 2.8m wide and 2.8m high for the Enterprise wall
  • No overhead power lines or obstructions

Bad Weather Policy

  • The Enterprise wall is rated for outdoor use to wind Force 5 (~17–21 mph)
  • The 26ft wall can also be lowered if wind speeds become unsafe
  • All walls can operate in light rain
  • If we need to stand down for safety, we'll discuss alternatives with you on the day

What Happens on the Day

  1. Our crew arrive and assess the site
  2. The wall is set up in approximately 30 minutes
  3. We conduct a full equipment safety check
  4. A safety briefing is delivered to all climbers
  5. Harnesses and helmets are fitted individually
  6. Climbing runs under constant supervision
  7. At the end of the session, we break down and remove everything

You don't need to provide any staff, equipment, or supervision. We handle it all.
